Significance Project Receives $50,000 Grant from Walton Family Foundation

· Significance Project

We are incredibly honored to announce that Significance Project has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Walton Family Foundation to expand our student internship program across Northwest Arkansas. This grant represents not just financial support, but a profound vote of confidence in our mission and in the young people we serve every day.

The funding will allow us to bring the Purpose Brands internship model to three new partner schools — Springdale High School, Fayetteville High School, and Har-Ber High School in Springdale — beginning in the fall 2026 semester. Each school will host a cohort of twelve students who will cycle through our brand development, media production, and business operations tracks. “This is the moment we’ve been building toward since day one,” said Marcus King, founder of Significance Project. “Every student who’s come through our doors has proven that when you give young people real responsibility and real mentorship, they don’t just rise to the occasion — they redefine it.”

The Walton Family Foundation’s investment will fund dedicated program coordinators at each new site, equipment and materials for student projects, transportation for students who need it, and a culminating showcase event where all three cohorts will present their work to the community. We’re also setting aside a portion of the grant for emergency support funds, because we know from experience that sometimes the biggest barrier to a student showing up is something as simple as not having gas money or a meal.

To the Walton Family Foundation: thank you for seeing what we see in these young people. To our community: this is just the beginning. Over the next six months, we’ll be recruiting mentors, building curriculum, and laying the groundwork to welcome our largest class of interns yet. If you’re an educator, business leader, or creative professional who wants to be part of this expansion, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we’re proving that investing in young people isn’t charity — it’s strategy. And it works.
